2 Kids Graduate Junior High School

We are happy to share with you an exciting update regarding the two kids who have been a part of our project for the past eight years. The twins, George Senior  and George Junior have both successfully completed Junior High School (JHS) education. They will now proceed to higher education on Senior High School level.

We are incredibly proud of their achievements and wanted to express our sincere gratitude for your continuous support and interest in our project. It is because of your generosity that these kids were able to receive the care and education they needed to succeed. Your contribution has made a significant impact on their lives and we cannot thank you enough.

Once again, thank you for your unwavering support, and we are looking forward to sharing more success stories with you in the future.

SMW 2023

We are thrilled to announce the commencement of a new session of vocational training for five young mothers. These incredible women, along with their children, have recently relocated to the children’s village, seeking a fresh start and a brighter future.

This year, our vocational training program will focus on three essential skills: sewing, pedicure/manicure, and hair-do. We believe that equipping these mothers with practical skills will empower them to become self-sufficient and provide for their families.

In order to ensure that our new members have a smooth transition and a comfortable stay, we recognised the need for major renovations and expansion in our family house. Our dedicated team has been hard at work, carrying out various renovation works such as painting the family houses, replacing worn-out mosquito nets, and mending the roofs. These improvements not only enhance the aesthetics of the village but also contribute to the overall safety and well-being of our residents.

Kids Educational Needs

Additionally, we have also made significant efforts to provide personal and educational items for both the old and new children in the village. We have purchased books, shoes, school bags, pencils, and other essential supplies to support their learning and development. We firmly believe that education is a vital tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, and we are committed to giving these children the best possible start in life.

We are immensely grateful for the support and generosity of our donors, sponsors, and volunteers who have made all of these initiatives possible. Together, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of these young mothers and their children, helping them build a brighter and more promising future.

As we embark on this new session of vocational training, we are filled with hope and excitement for what lies ahead. We are confident that these young mothers will embrace the opportunity to learn new skills and transform their lives. With your continued support, we can empower more individuals and families, creating a ripple effect of positive change within our community.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of these young mothers and their children.

Solar Power Restored

After several weeks of waiting, all the necessary parts for our solar system have now been delivered: a new 4KWA inverter from Studer, charge controller and 5X 3.5kWh Li-lon batteries. Our technicians worked for three days to rewire and update the system, which was finally successfully installed.

The system is intelligent, it is capable of alerting us if battery percentage drops to a critical level or in worse case it is able to take out certain load to protect the system. In this way, we can use electricity efficiently and at the same time conserve the photovoltaic system. The joy about the new system in the children’s village is overwhelming and we are happy that we finally have electricity again at night! On hot sunny days, residents can now drink cold water and store food in a cool place to keep it longer. Children can study and do their homework after dark and do not have to fear stepping on a dangerous insect at night.

The commissioning of the photovoltaic system is a great success for us and will improve life in the children’s village in the long term. Without your continued interest in our project, this would not have been possible. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support!

Farming in 2022

Mostly during the rainy season, the residents and staff of the Children’s Village practice subsistence farming. This enables us to cover part of our food needs independently. This year, our main focus is on the cultivation of vegetables. We have introduced a new irrigation method for our vegetable crops and now combine natural irrigation of the plants by rainwater with additional water supply from our water reservoirs. For this purpose, we have already installed a new water tank and a sprinkler system in the vegetable garden, which allow continuous irrigation.

This year we have also started raising domestic chickens. Our chickens are raised in free range and live within the walls of the Children’s Village on about 16,000 square meters.

Happy Easter

Easter celebration in Ghana is mostly about  the death and rise of Christ.
Not much is told about bunnies and decorated Easter eggs in many homes in Ghana.

At the childrens village we have adopted a few traditions from the international world making Easter time even more fun for us in our village community. For our Easter celebration, we baked some cookies, painted some colorful Easter eggs together with all kids and have other activities such  traditional games/ dance on the plan.

Many thanks for your continuous support and love you show us everyday. Happy Easter….
